(between meetings or at track)
- Place blue roll or clean rag around con rod at crank case mouth to stop any dropped items going in to the crankcase. See photo above
- Remove piston by
- Remove right side circlip
- Push out gudgeon pin (rist pin) My require light taps from a hammer using drift on the pin
- If to much pressure required scrape the circlip grove to remove bur’s thrown up in use
- Check small end bearing for cracks or damage or crack to the cage any doubts replace with Yamaha only
- Check piston for excessive wear and cracks replace as appropriate
- Clean piston of any carbon build up and any pitting on crown
- Check piston in barrel for excessive slap
Reassemble if only doing inspection of top end recommended between meetings (see later in guide)
